Choosing French End Tables

When you are decorating your living room in a fresh decorative style you may be having a wonderful time choosing the sofa and chairs that not only have a comfortable feel, and make you feel as if you have escaped on vacation, but also items that are luxurious and elegant feeling and make you feel like you are not only on vacation, but being spoiled on that vacation!

This is what French furniture is all about after all. But don't stop at just the seating area and the coffee table, you should also make sure you get all the other pieces to make up the perfect living room suite. Sadly, end tables are often overlooked.

French end tables are a vital part of this living space. After all, where are you going to put the remote, a lamp to read by and your drink? While sure you could put two of those three on a coffee table that means you are going to have to lean up from the comfortable furniture that you are so cozy in to get and put down those items each time you need time. Instead with French tables beside the sofa or chair you can just flop your arm over to the side and what you need is right there.

When choosing French end tables you first need to make sure the style is right. Often when you are shopping French end tables are just going to be labeled 'tables' not be given their French designation. That means you need to know what you are looking for to make sure you get a set of tables that are French in styling. Here are a couple things to keep in mind:

Airy - For the most part French end tables are going to have a light, airy design. They have soft appearances and shapes and the frames are not large and bulky. There is often a lot of time and care taken by craftsmen in working the pieces of wood that go into French furniture down into thinner and lighter pieces that can do the job with less. Many people liken French furniture to a woman, saying the pieces are soft and lighter than their male counterparts.

Beautiful - Another thing to look for in French end tables is beautiful accents. Perhaps it is that feminine side of these furniture pieces that makes them wants to be a little dressier than the other tables on the market. You will often find those sexy curved cabriole legs on French tables. Additionally, you should not be surprised if they are dressed up a little bit with fancy accents like gilded gold touches and carvings.

Warm - No matter how decorative and fancy French end tables are, you should always remember that part of their job is to be warm and inviting. That is part of the French country charm. Not only is it beautiful and even elegant, but also still very welcoming and comfortable, furniture you want to come home to.
